# Channel SOP — Product Hunt, Show HN, and directories

**Use when:** there is something usable/showable, the audience overlaps, and the founder can answer questions and follow up. Treat launch platforms as campaigns, not the weekly engine.

**Avoid when:** no target user has received value, the plan depends on fake votes, or the listing is generic directory spam.

## Product Hunt

1. Honest name/tagline and clear visual demo.
2. First comment: who it serves, why it exists, what works, what remains rough, and the link.
3. Prepare onboarding/support and stay present for questions.
4. Ask real supporters for feedback—not coordinated fake engagement.

## Show HN

1. Only when there is a real thing to show and technical/curious readers plausibly care.
2. Title: `Show HN: {thing} — {honest outcome}`.
3. Body: what it is, who it is for, how it works, limitations, and link.
4. Answer comments directly; no marketing-deck voice or invented metrics.

## Directories

Choose only directories where the ICP browses with relevant intent. Complete accurate category, proof, screenshot, CTA, and tracking. Do not submit to hundreds of low-quality sites.

## Measure

Primary: qualified conversations, activation, retained users, payment. Diagnose visits, listing conversion, comments, and referral source. Review launch day, day 7, and day 30. Keep the normal primary-channel habit running after the spike.
