Rework Loop: Edited Content Scrapped or Changed After the Cut

Summary

Creators and editors lose hours of work because sections are cut, edited, and then thrown away when the creator changes direction or re-records. In the source, an editor describes the frustration of listening through and cutting a long section only to discover it was scrapped and restarted in the next file. This is not just a novice problem: course creators and online educators routinely record and edit lectures before the script and structure are locked, forcing repeated re-recording, re-cutting, and re-syncing across dozens or hundreds of lectures. Existing editing tools have no concept of a locked script or pre-production blueprint, so they cannot prevent rework; they only accelerate cutting. The pain is severe (wasted hours, burnout, missed deadlines) and unsolved because no affordable desktop workflow ties scripting/outline generation to production so content is finalized before recording. A tool that locks the outline and script before recording/editing would eliminate this rework loop entirely.
