Disconnected Narrative Events Break Canon Coherence

Summary

TTRPG game masters and storytellers struggle when events unfold as a chain of 'then... now...' occurrences that are not causally connected or justified by what came before, producing confusion and a loss of coherent canon. Players and GMs describe the experience as 'unmoored' — a sequence of events enacted without logical linkage, forcing them to track fact-finding missions, betrayals, and alliances that never actually connect. This is severely painful because it erodes trust in the setting, makes it impossible to track relationships and cause/effect, and leaves both creators and audiences unable to follow canon. No effective tool currently exists to map event chains, causality, and relationship dependencies across a sprawling story world so that each new narrative beat is justified by established lore. A worldbuilding codex that visualizes and validates causal/relationship links between events would solve a deeply felt, unsolved problem.
