Foreign learners invest months or years in textbooks, HSK courses, and apps that teach sanitized, formal, written-style Chinese — then discover they cannot follow a drama, a group chat, or casual native speech because the highest-frequency colloquial expressions (exclamations like 天啊/我的天/妈呀, slang, fillers, vulgarity, emotional reactions) simply are not taught. Worse, there is no reliable resource that shows what a given expression actually feels like in use: whether it is mild, dramatic, dated, regional, or outright vulgar.
