Scammers buy dormant verified accounts from defunct trading companies or simply pay a few thousand dollars a year for the badge, where the third-party audit only confirms a business license exists on paper and never verifies that the company actually manufactures what it lists. Escrow 'protection' is then defeated through contractual loopholes (e.g., requiring a domestic freight forwarder so the platform treats the order as delivered once a crate is signed for), hidden red-font clauses on secondary invoices, and bot-driven dispute resolution that downgrades outright fraud to a 'quality issue', awarding buyers 10-20% partial refunds at best.
