  When a flight is cancelled — especially on a checkout day or at the end of a long trip — travelers are suddenly stranded with no place to sleep, no food, and no clear path to rebooking. This is getting structurally worse: new federal rules (effective Oct 19) remove airline obligations to provide hotels and meals for 10 categories of disruption, shifting the entire burden onto the traveler precisely when they are most stressed and least able to research options. In the reported case, a traveler whose flight was cancelled on checkout day spent 40+ minutes on hold, hit repeated reservation failures, and ultimately paid ~$300 out of pocket for a replacement room just to have somewhere to sleep. No existing tool detects the cancellation across carriers/loyalty programs, instantly surfaces and books nearby available accommodation within budget, coordinates the knock-on changes (transfers, pre-paid activities, next-day connections), or tells the traveler what they are still legally owed. Airline apps only rebook their own flights, hotel apps don't know a disruption occurred, and compensation services act retroactively on claims — leaving an acute, high-stakes, still-unsolved gap in disruption management.
